Club v HMS Monmouth (home) 22 Mar 2016

30-7 Win

1XV v Llanhilleth (away) 05 Mar 2016

43-17 Win

First half display win it for Monmouth

On the journey to Llanhilleth RFC, Monmouth will have reflected on the previous fixture earlier in the season. A 31-6 victory against the current bottom team in the league will have given them confidence of another success.

A sunny day greeted both sides from the kick off on Llanhilleth Park. Within minutes, the home side took a very early lead. An intercepted Monmouth pass saw the home side Centre sprint between the posts for a five point start. The conversion surprisingly failed, but quite a shock for the visitors.

Tries: S.Parsons (3), R.Evans, J.Smith, D.White, S.Harding
Conv: S.Parsons (4)

1XV v Caldicot (home) 27 Feb 2016

7-36 Loss

A 6 Try Lesson for Monmouth

A cold clear day on a dry ground at last promised a running game at the Sports Ground but a converted try right at the start from Swalec League leaders, Caldicot turned out to be a bad omen indeed.

Admittedly Monmouth were caught cold when the visiting fill back ran on at pace from an early high kick fumbled back into his path but any one of three supporting players as his legs tired could have scored this first of 6 Caldicot tries earning them a deserved bonus point result.

Tries: S.Oaten
Conv: R.Ricketts

1XV v Chepstow (home) 20 Feb 2016

8-23 Loss

A Tribute to Will

With Will Copley now having passed on to playing the game he loved far away, Saturday was at last the delayed occasion when team mates, club members and friends could at last hold the traditional minute’s silence in his memory prior to last Saturday’s home game against near neighbours, Chepstow.

Tries: D.White
Pen: S.Parsons

Druids v Hereford (away) 20 Feb 2016

8-48 Loss

Druids well beaten in Hereford

Monmouth Druids five match winning run came to a shattering end against Hereford RFC. This latest fixture, arranged at the last minute, saw the Druids field a much weakened side short of players and their regular captain. The dearth of players was so desperate they were forced to field two borrowed players from the home side plus fielding a couple of players making their debuts.

Druids v Greyhounds (away) 06 Feb 2016

34-7 Win

Away Day Success

On their journey to Hereford, Monmouth Druids will have felt quite confident about the up coming battle against Greyhounds on the racecourse. This will have been a new contest for both sides but the Druids plus 100 years longer establishment as a club is significant.
The weather that greeted them however was a great leveller. Gail force wind and persistent rain would test the skills of both sides. Who could raise their game to conquer the elements and the opposition?

Tries: D.White (2), D.Anstey, K.Gordon (2), S.Oaten
Conv: K.Gordon (2)

Druids v Chepstow (away) 23 Jan 2016

31-5 Win

Emphatic win for Druids

Monmouth Druids won their second away victory this season when they defeated Chepstow rfc in conclusive fashion by 31 points to 5. Heavy playing conditions on a wide pitch faced the sides on a gloomy day. Druids skipper Jack Howells won the toss and chose to play up the slope looking to have the benefit of this advantage in the second half when limbs were tired.

Tries: D.Anstey, T.Wellington, D.White, L.Thomas, T.Hawkins
Conv: K.Gordon (3)
