1XV v Fairwater (Away) 17 May 2003

17-19 Loss

Despite nearly beating Fairwater away on the last formal day of the season, it was a sad day with David Morgan, one of Monmouth's up and coming young players breaking his ankle in a pure accident as he tried to accelerate through a gap, mid way through the second half.

1XV v Crumlin (Away) 10 May 2003

12-16 Loss

Whilst the tour to Prague was undoubtedly a great success both off the field and on it, with all five games won, Crumlin brought Monmouth back down to earth last Saturday by beating them away 16-12.

Recognised for solid uncompromising forward play Crumlin predictably stuck at their strengths, but Monmouth with greater pace and trickery in their backs were heartened early on, despite falling 3-0 behind to a penalty in front of the posts for an offside decision after only five minutes, by the way in which their backs carved the way through the centre to gain large swathes of territory.

1XV v Bedlinog (Away) 26 Apr 2003

10-34 Loss

Like a team which was looking forward to the season and not the end of it, Monmouth played in fits and starts with great determination but not a lot of co-ordination, when they lost away by 34-10 points to Bedlinog last Saturday.

True the bus journey delayed the start and the referee was not in the mood to forgive them for that, with the result that virtually every fifty-fifty decision seemed to go to the home team, but Monmouth played as individuals against a well drilled and driving pack.

Druids v Cwmbran (Away) 26 Apr 2003

0-0 Draw

1XV v Longlevens (Away) 19 Apr 2003

64-7 Win

Monmouth visited Longlevens RFC on Saturday in a replacement fixture and despite a wind that seriously disrupted the flow of the game, came away with a 64-7 win which included 10 tries to only one interception one against.

Monmouth promised a great deal at the start but were too eager, making mistakes in the adverse weather conditions, and allowing scoring opportunities to slip by.

As a result it took them a full twenty minutes before Dave Croudace was to score a try which he converted himself against a the wind and a spirited, if makeshift, defence.

Druids v Pill Harriers (Away) 19 Apr 2003

0-17 Loss

1XV v Rhiwbina (Home) 12 Apr 2003

46-14 Win

In the final home match of the season, generously sponsored by Rob Keene of the 'Cloisters Wine Bar' in Ross, Monmouth supporters were blessed by yet another glorious Spring day and eighty minutes of high scoring rugby ending in a convincing win by 46-14 points against Cardiff visitors, Rhiwbina RFC.

Druids v Longlevens (Away) 12 Apr 2003

17-14 Win

1XV v Nantyglo (Away) 05 Apr 2003

30-13 Win

On a glorious Spring day it was obvious the minds of the Monmouth three-quarters were on things like the view of the hills opposite Nantyglo RFC's ground for at least the first half an hour, if the missed tackles and other basic errors were anything to go by, before clawing their way back into the game and then racing away in the last stages to win 13-30 for a long awaited win.

Druids v Berry Hill (Away) 05 Apr 2003

15-30 Loss
