Druids v Berry Hill (Away) 24 Nov 2001

18-13 Win

1XV v Bream (Home) 24 Nov 2001

44-12 Win

Continued concentration on running rugby after the interval led to Bream being cracked open last Saturday by a Monmouth side continuing to improve in confidence.

On a pleasant autumnal afternoon, Bream came to Monmouth with a series of promising results behind them and a determination to give as good as they got. And within five minutes they had taken play deep into the Monmouth half and scored an unconverted try.

Druids v Ledbury (Away) 17 Nov 2001

17-10 Win

For the fourth game in succession Monmouth Druids had to travel for a game of rugby. This time it was the well appointed venue of Ledbury that greeted the side that was strengthened by a sprinkling of first team players and six replacement players.

1XV v Ynysddu (Away) 10 Nov 2001

6-3 Win

After two disappointing months of the season last Saturday Monmouth RFC got itselfs back on track with a dogged 6-3 win away at Ynysddu.

The pre-match warm up ensured a first ten minutes which saw a shaken Ynysddu feverishly defending their line. But to come away from such a period of sustained pressure with a missed penalty and two disallowed tries and no points would have tested any side. Monmouth, however, plugged away until Frost was able to put them three points ahead with a well judged penalty from far out on the left.

Druids v Cinderford (Away) 10 Nov 2001

34-3 Win

1XV v Tredegar Ironsides (Home) 03 Nov 2001

42-8 Win

Monmouth at long last boosted their self esteem by scoring a hatful of tries against a Tredegar Ironsides side which had only lost once before their visit to the town.

Stuart Boylan led the way in the early minutes for fly half Frost to add the conversion and thanks to firm refereeing two penalties for a half time total of 13-3.

Druids v Crickhowell (Away) 03 Nov 2001

6-14 Loss

1XV v Crumlin (Away) 27 Oct 2001

6-16 Loss

Monmouth’s hopes of building on last week’s stirring win when visiting Crumlin this Saturday were not to be, when they succumbed to a bigger and more determined pack.

Despite being the more adventurous and enterprising team in the first quarter and even being the first to score after twenty minutes via a Rob Frost penalty, Monmouth soon found themselves frustrated by spoiling at its best.

Folowing several warnings for illegally slowing the game down, it was against the run of play when Crumlin went 5-3 in front after 25 minutes following a drive from a line-out.

Druids v Chepstow (Away) 27 Oct 2001

20-18 Win

1XV v RTB Ebbw Vale (Home) 20 Oct 2001

55-0 Win

Monmouth’s 1st XV came good on Saturday with a 57-0 thrashing of visitors RTB Ebbw Vale.

The pattern was set in the first minute when Phil Anstey robbed the ball at the back of an RTB scrum and ran unopposed to score near the posts making the conversion by Rob Frost a formality. There was to follow 7 other tries, all by threequarters plus 7 conversions and a penalty by Frost who was back to his very best form.
