1XV v Berry Hill (away) 26 Aug 2017

26-7 Win

A host of players, young and old, together with many supporters descended on Berry Hill RFC last Saturday to revel in the Holiday sunshine whilst remembering a dear friend of both the clubs in both playing and coaching capacities, Ian 'Sedge' Seymour and raising money for Prostate Cancer Research.

Tries: A.Nuove (3), R.Carlton
Conv: S.Parsons (3)

1XV v Pontypool United (home) 19 Aug 2017

Trial Games Trio on Chippenham

Last Saturday saw the return of competitive rugby when Monmouth entertained the Pontypool United and Bridgend Sports teams in three 40 minute games.

The Pontypool squad set their stall out impressively the greater speed and cohesion but still took 20 minutes to break down the Bridgend defence with a neatly taken try by their open side flanker out on the right.

Bridgend did their best but were to succumb eventually to two well taken tries without response.

Vets v Berry Hill (away) 26 Aug 2017

12-0 Win

1XV v Blackwood Stars (home) 06 May 2017

34-20 Win

Winning End to Rugby Season

In a game where play only seemed to occasionally interrupt the endless penalties awarded and yet with not a yellow card in sight despite many warnings, there are still highlights to report in this welcome win over Blackwood Stars, but many opportunities missed at the same time.

Tries: D.White (4), J.Smith

Druids v Caldicot (home) 29 Apr 2017

25-5 Win

MONMOUTH RFC Druids entertained Caldicot seconds in their last game of the season at the weekend.

A strong Druids team started well and soon found themselves 3-0 up via the boot of Kris Gordon.

Monmouth continued to play open running rugby, but unfortunately could not breach the Caldicot line and the first half finished with no further points being scored.

The second half started with a bang, as some excellent interplay between backs and forwards saw Elliot Spears score the first try of the game which Kris Gordon converted to increase the lead to 10-0.

Tries: E.Spears (2), S.Brosnan
Conv: K.Gordon (2)
Pen: K.Gordon (2)

1XV v Usk (home) 22 Apr 2017

16-19 Loss

Another almost Summer-like day brought a large crowd to Chippenham Fields to see which of Monmouth or Usk were to claim the bragging rights between these close neighbours. And what a close encounter it turned out to be!

Inside two minutes, outside-half Parsons put Monmouth into the lead with a penalty kick following an infringement at the first scrum of the game. Usk were awarded a penalty at a maul soon afterwards but their kick went awry.

Tries: A.Nuove
Conv: S.Parsons
Pen: S.Parsons
DG: S.Parsons
