1XV v Hartridge (home) 26 Nov 2016

8-16 Loss

Monmouth Shaded by a Better Team

Monmouth travelled away to Hartridge last Saturday with a team specifically chosen to face up to their dominant pack and that, apart from the first scrum, is what they did with each pack thereafter giving as good as they took.

1XV v Fleur De Lys (home) 12 Nov 2016

15-5 Win

Monmouth Improve and Win

As a prelude to the weekend's Internationals, Monmouth journeyed to Fleur de Lys, a side whom they have not played for many a year. On a wide, rather wet, pitch initially bathed in Autumn sunshine, Monmouth kicked off and quickly put the home team on the back foot with scrum half White capitalising on possession with a smart break to run in over 25 metres, providing Emanuelli with an easy conversion.

1XV v Cwmcarn (home) 29 Oct 2016

64-7 Win

Monmouth Advance in Cup

Monmouth advanced to the 4th round of the SWALEC Bowl at the expense of Cwmcarn United last Saturday on Chippenham in a 10 try spree.

Restored to near full strength, Monmouth were soon on the score-board when their full back Goddard ran a relieving kick back, eluding many tacklers before linking with centre Ellard who scored in the right corner, but too far out on this occasion to convert.

Tries: L.Goddard, Ellard (2), L.Hunter, A.Nove (2), K.Mobbs-Morgan, P.Emanuelli (2), D.White
Conv: P.Emanuelli (6)

1XV v Blackwood Stars (home) 22 Oct 2016

5-18 Loss

Wasted Trip to Blackwood for Monmouth

A tolerable band of Monmouth supporters made the journey last Saturday with reasonable hopes of a win as Blackwood Stars frequent(ed) even lower reaches of the league than the still developing Monmouth.

But they were to be disappointed not only by their team's inability to manage the basics for much of the game, made even worse by a referee who has yet to understand what 'playing advantage' means: so much so that even one of the home team coaches was heard pleading for the game to be allowed to flow at one stage.

Tries: J.Lebon

1XV v Chepstow (home) 15 Oct 2016

Monmouth fightback not enough against Chepstow

Monmouth have been steadily improving in recent weeks and with the welcome debut of two recruits from New Zealand, hopes were high for the visit of Chepstow even though the visitors were riding much higher in the league.

But this soon looked misplaced when a failure to catch cleanly the kick off brought a charging run by a Chepstow forward which brushed aside some weak tackling for the first try of what was by the end to be four by the visitors,
