Youth v Abergavenny (Away) 13 Oct 2012

8-7 Win

Under Par Performance

Good for golf but no good for rugby

This week Abergavenny entertained local rivals Monmouth on Bailey Park, in a game which promised a lot but delivered very little. The first half was an error strewn affair by both sides with the half time score of 0-0 reflecting this.

The second half started brightly with Abergavenny’s best move of the game, with the forwards driving well and recycling several times before capt Josh Davies crossed for a try converted by Ieuan Werret to make the score 7-0.Unfortunately for Abergavenny this was the highlight of the half with things going downhill from then on.

Ill discipline and poor tackling then allowed Monmouth’s number 8, Cameron Boycott to score an unconverted try wide making it 7-5.

Abergavenny then sat back and let Monmouth come at them. Abergavenny held out until the final minutes of the game before more ill discipline gifted Monmouth a penalty to make the final score Abergavenny 7 Monmouth 8.
