U9 v Hereford (Away) 24 Nov 2013

Forty-four tries in one MUDDY week!

Following on from their 10 nil demolition of St Julian’s last week the Sharks travelled to Hereford keen to continue to their winning ways.

In the age of electronic gaming gadgets it is fantastic to see so many youngsters playing rugby and both clubs had enough players to field two teams of eight a side. Despite having to adapt to the different rules and a division of labour the Sharks once again showed no fear and got about the task in hand. Four thrilling games of Rugby ensued and the Sharks scored no less than 34 tries with 12 different players making the score sheet. Top of the tree was William Freeman with 6 tries. Slight he may be but William has no hesitation in stopping opponents twice his size and some. 4 tries came from Mattie, Jack, Oscar and Finlay. Mikey and Dominic scored 3 each, Cornelius 2 and Tom, Noah, Dennis and George added to the tally with a clean sheet being denied by a single try from Hereford.

No one player makes a team and once again the Sharks showed resolute tenacity to overwhelm the opposition so save some praise for the likes of Owen Sheppard and Dennis Spooner who put in some big tackles to halt Hereford and send the forwards on their winning ways.

The Sharks have grown this season in stature and with a squad of 22 players drawn from a long list of local schools supported by 3 volunteer coaches it is no wonder that they are receiving such deserved applause and praise from all who watch them play. It is not so much a question of who but how many will follow in Hallam Amos’s successful footsteps to represent both club & country? Watch this space
