U9 v Bromyard (Home) 02 Feb 2014

50-10 Win

Sharks Continue their winning streak

An almost dry morning saw the Sharks host Bromyard at home as their pitches were unplayable. Underfoot was more than soggy yet safe and the Sharks were desperate to play some rugby after recent cancellations due to inclement conditions.

Dennis and Callum made up the numbers for a depleted Bromyard team when required during the match.

Bromyard opened the play and for three tackles couldn't get over the half way line then suddenly the winger was given the ball and sped off to score the opening try of the game. An instant reply was created with a brilliant interception from Tom giving Matt the first score for the Sharks. Superb defence at both ends in difficult conditions meant a brief lull in scoring opportunities before Cornelius, Oscar and Jack helped to set Matt up for a second try. The third for Monmouth came from Dominic within minutes of the whistle.

The start of the second half saw Oscar receive the ball, from Owen then dodge a defender and plant the ball on the line. A push was made by the Sharks to get the ball firmly back in the Bromyard half from the restart and resulted in Jacks try which was well deserved as he seemed to have covered the whole pitch today!
Dominic scored again having made several brilliant, consecutive tackles. Intercepting the ball. Bromyard scored one back with brilliant passing, a dodge and a super run from little over the half way line. Cornelius matched them pace for pace and responded with a try of his own with resounding shouts of encouragement from the crowd!

Once again the rain made its presence felt with both sides trudging with heavy legs but they still managed to show brilliant sportsmanship in the wet.
Matt was tossed the wet ball having had several knock ons and scrums and shot off to score his third of the match.  Mikey produced a try of his own having tackled and grabbed the ball showing brilliant awareness.  Mickey then retrieved the ball from Bromyards drop and quickly passed it to George who, following a super run, dodging three ended the game with a try.

A fantastic result for the Sharks who once again reaped the rewards of a superb team performance with every player contributing to the victory.

Tries: Mattie Cotton (3), Dominic Clayton (2), Jack Buckner, George Rowlands, Oscar Battersby, Cornelius Madler & Mikey Nixon
