U11 v Bromyard (Home) 02 Feb 2014

55-5 Win

Another game in the wet and muddy Weather that we seem to expect now over on Chippy park and this visitors were Bromyard who thankfully agreed to come to our place due to their pitches being worse than ours..

Today Bromyard asked to play 4 x 15min quarters instead of the normal 2 x 20min halves we normally play, to give their boys more game time. In the spirit of the game we agreed and took the opportunity to give more game time to our newer additions to the squad who all gave full accounts of themselves. Owen started in the front row and held his own playing well along with other new additions Xavier and Dylan.

The game started at a fierce pace with the larger Bromyard forwards looking to run through the Monmouth pack, (not too dissimilar to what Newbridge tried last week) the result was the same though with very strong tackling from hooker Kieron who was eager to make up for missing last week. And Rui improving his all round game with some good handling and hits.

Also upfront it was good to see Morgan back from injury and playing well, along with Matty, who is another who relishes the wet weather and physical confrontation it brings. Also I must also mention Xavier who works tirelessly as an open-side and pinches at least 5 balls each game from opposition rucks which is essential in the modern game and the way we are trying to play.

A very strong / aggressive display upfront paved the way for Lewis and Ellis who both, when playing at scrum half, played well and got the ball away from the forwards to provide that much needed link to the backs. With such an amount of ball given to our formidable back-line, With the likes of Harry, and Charlie commanding the back-line and Oli S and Oli W slicing through the centre at will it created another high scoring game.

Tries from: Xavier, Henry, Charlie, Lewis, Ben, Oil S (3), Oli W, Dillon and Angus

Man of the match could of been a number of players this week but went to Hamish, who again relished having more game time and made some huge tackles coupled with showing some good speed around the park when he got ball in hand.
