U9 v Chepstow (away) 29 Mar 2015

A big thank you to the 15 boys and parents that made it to Chepstow yesterday. The weather conditions contributed to what were probably the worst playing conditions we have experienced all season. Not only was it wet and muddy, it was also windy and freezing cold. Chepstow only had 10 players, so we operated a system of rolling subs so all boys got at least 10 or 15 minutes game time. Chepstow lost a player to injury in the first 5 minutes, so Ollie C offered to play for them. By the second half we had lost 2 players, one to injury, one to the cold. All the Monmouth boys showed a real grit and determination and did us proud. At half time it was 1 v 1, but by the second half the boys began to gel really well and saw Monmouth eventually winning 4 v 1 after a long 20 minute game (lots of stop start due to the muddy conditions). We had planned to play another 10 minutes, but the weather and Monmouth’s dominance in the second half has broken Chepstow’s spirit and they didn’t want to play on.

WE should all be really proud of the boys, they played really well together in such awful conditions. Well done to all.
