What a fight back by Monmouth U-9’s

Monmouth RFC Under 9’s played a tough away match in very wet conditions against Drybrook on Sunday 28 th October.

Drybrook got off to an excellent start scoring 4 tries early in the first half despite some strong tackling from Monmouth. It seemed that the match was already won by Drybrook, but Monmouth fought back bravely with a well worked forwards try by Max Webley. Spurred on by this, Monmouth started to take control of the game, and Paris Taylor added a second try just before half time.

Monmouth then came out in the second half, and although still behind by 20 points to 10, the true commitment of the whole team started to come through as Scott Davies crossed the line after a 30 yard dash. Paris Taylor then added his second try to even the scores.

The final 5 minutes of the game was very tense with Monmouth continuing to apply the pressure. Finally James Williams broke through the Drybrook defence to score the winning try just before the final whistle.

The final score was Drybrook 20, Monmouth 25
