GWENT DRAGONS GUARD OF HONOUR

NEWPORT GWENT DRAGONS –V- LONDON IRISH

HEINEKEN CUP MATCH – SATURDAY 17 TH NOVEMBER 2007

Around 50 members of Monmouth Young Rugby attended the Heineken Cup rugby fixture at Rodney Parade on Saturday 17 th November between Newport Gwent Dragons and London Irish. The Monmouth Club was invited by the Dragons to provide the “Guard of Honour” for the match, creating the tunnel for the players entering the pitch at the start of the game. The young players from Monmouth had been treated to an hour long skills coaching session with the Dragons coaching staff before their “Guard of Honour” duties, their finale being a sprint across the length of the pitch to join their families and friends in the stand prior to kick off in order to watch the match. Unfortunately, for all the local supporters, London Irish went on to win the game but a good time was had by all and a lasting memory taken away by all the aspiring young Monmouth players.
