young rugby chairman's welcome

Welcome to Monmouth Young Rugby

Monmouth Young Rugby continues to grow, both in relation to player numbers, coaches and volunteers and we can all be pleased with the progress made last season. With new records being set at every age group, the trophy cabinet upstairs in the newly refurbished lounge is nearly full!

The appointment of a MRFC Schools Rugby Officer Craig Everett last August has helped to cement our relationships with our local schools, as we look to develop a Monmouth Rugby Family within the greater local community.

We look forward to the 8th Annual Young Rugby Tournament this October, when we hope that our very own Monmouth Young Rugby players, who have recently won Welsh senior honours, Hallam Amos and Cameron Watson Boycott, will return to the club to inspire the next generation of young rugby players.

Please support our Lucky 4 Tote Lottery. Every ticket sold provides much needed revenue to fund projects at the Club. It is critical that every Young Rugby team takes responsibility in helping to sell tickets, to make a contribution to our future. Please buy a ticket – it could be you winning the weekly cash prize of up to £15,000.00!

Thank you to ALL our volunteers and sponsors once again. Our many sponsors did us proud and provided a sound financial platform for us to achieve our ambitions last season. Combined with the fantastic band of volunteers at the Club, it is not difficult to see why Monmouth RFC continues to flourish and why Monmouth RFC was awarded Best Community Club in WRU District A in 2016!!

Our Maidens Girls Rugby franchise has been a great success and continues to go from strength to strength as we continue to help develop girl’s rugby in Monmouthshire.

The end of last season saw Young Rugby visit Tenby for another excellent end of season tour, attended by the best part of 200 young players and parents who enjoyed a feast of rugby entertainment in the Pembrokeshire sunshine. This season, by popular demand, we look forward to returning to Butlin’s Minehead for the Tigers Tour Challenge in May. Our season ended with Awards Nights for every age group, which gave everyone a chance to reflect and celebrate a job well done.

We are about to embark on a new season, where lifelong friendships will be formed – future stars found – where rugby will continue to be played in the true spirit of the game – by rugby playing warriors and gentlemen of all ages and abilities.

Welcome to Monmouth Young Rugby. I wish you all every success this season.
