Monmouth under 13’s travelled to Cheltenham last weekend to take on current county champions Cheltenham Tigers. It was a very cold and frosty morning but Monmouth fronted up well in the conditions.

Cheltenham got off to a flying start with 2 early tries, but Monmouth gradually pulled themselves back into the game, and finished the match the stronger team despite Cheltenham adding 5 further tries.

U13 v Old Bristolians (Away) 27 Nov 2011

15-19 Loss

Monmouth under 13’s travelled to Bristol last weekend, and suffered a narrow defeat losing 19 points to 15 despite a strong performance.
Rhys Carlton scored all of Monmouth’s points with 3 excellent tries, but this was not enough to avoid defeat.

Max Webley had a great game playing out of position at blind-side flanker, and was awarded player of the match for the Monmouth team.

Monmouth U-13 Crusaders dominate round robin competition

Monmouth Young Rugby Under 13 Crusaders hosted a round robin competition with touring team Swindon Supermarine and Gwernyfed last weekend at Chippenham Fields.

It was a fine autumnal morning and the Monmouth Crusaders kicked off their first game against Welsh rivals Gwernyfed with fine spirit. The Crusaders dominated the opening play and went into the lead with a try by Number 8 Rhys Carlton.

Monmouth Under 13’s travelled to Drybrook last weekend, and carried on their winning form this season with a very convincing victory on a wet Sunday morning in the Forest.

Monmouth got off to an excellent start in the first half with two early tries scored by back row forward Rhys Carlton, with his second try duly converted by full back Harry Powell.

Convincing Derby win for Monmouth U-13’s

Monmouth Under 13’s started the season in fine form at Chippenham Fields on Sunday with a convincing win over local rivals Abergavenny.
Monmouth got off to a perfect start straight from the kick off with back row forward Rhys Carlton securing the ball and driving through a bewildered looking Abergavenny defence to touchdown in the first minute. This try was duly converted by fly-half Louis MacFarlane.
