Sharks Rampant Once Again

An extremely mild Sunday morning for the time of year saw the Sharks entertain a newly formed Cwmbran side who despite a shortage of numbers kindly decided to play two games against the shoal of Sharks. High attendance once again gave the coaches an abundance of choices with all Sharks getting a good run out.
In full flow the Sharks are hard to stop at present let alone beat and today was no exception with a total lock out in defence with no tries conceded.

Score:
Monmouth Sharks won 6 - NIL and 5 - NIL.

Tries: Finlay Robertson (3), William Freeman (2), Mattie Cotton (2), Dominic Clayton,
Dylan Meek, Barney Thomas Hewartson and Callum Uttley

U9 v Abergavenny (Home) 03 Nov 2013

Super Sunday eat your heart out.  The sun was shining and the Sharks entertained local rivals Abergavenny on the Chippie.

Two twenty minute matches were held and both teams had the depth in numbers to provide two sides. The Sharks were split into Tigers and Whites.

Tiger Sharks
Tiger Sharks were out first and within two minutes Oscar put them . His desire to score that quick try set the pace for the rest of the half. Some great passing, scrums and thought was making the match a really good one to watch. Oscar ended the first half with a second try!

Tiger Sharks won 5 tries to 1
White Sharks won by 4 tries to 3
Tries: Jack Buckner (3), Oscar Battersby (2) Dylan Denne, Callum Uttley, Cornelius Madler and Finlay Robertson

U9 v Berry Hill (Away) 20 Oct 2013

f you weren’t at Berry Hill today then you missed a brilliant pair of games. The team pulled together, worked together, talked and yelled at each other and gelled to win both their games in real style. Some fantastic turnovers, superb skills applied from weeks of training and some absolutely brilliant individual tries.

U9 v Monmouth Tournament (Home) 06 Oct 2013

Never thought we would need sun block at the annual Monmouth Young Rugby Festival in October!

A fantastic day for the teams who competed in the sunshine with Abergavenny winning the Under 9’s section from Gwernyfed.

The Sharks lost their first game to Gwernyfed by just a single try then held the winners Abergavenny to a scoreless draw.

The next game saw the Sharks hold Caldicot to a draw before going on to win their final game against Old Lucktonians.

U9 v St. Josephs (Home) 22 Sep 2013

30-0 Win

A surprisingly warm Sunday for late September saw the Sharks don their new kit and take to the field for their first competitive game of contact rugby. Having warmed up with a 4 – 0 victory over their older club mates the Chiefs earlier in the week the Sharks certainly had confidence on their side if not experience against a St Joseph side that had already completed 3 competitive matches this season.

Tries: Dennis Spooner (2), Mattie Cotton (2), Dylan Denne and Finlay Robertson
