What a day!!
All games played were with enthusiasm, a determination to succeed, brilliant team work, excellent tagging, superb try scoring and an absolute pleasure to watch right to the bitter end.
After a steady warm up we played three times ten minute games with eight a side.
Usk were a determined side with some good defensive moves but Sharks were slicker and quicker at the off. Captained by Barney the Sharks were coached on the pitch by Rich and really made a big effort with not running backwards and keeping their lines more rigid.
Usk provided a good wall of defence with a couple of threats from their main scorers and produced some splendid rugby including a great dodge by their fastest player of the day.
NHSOB joined us on this cold Mothers Day morning.
With Jack making up the numbers for NHSOB we were on.
U8 v Croesyceiliog (Away) 03 Mar 2013
A strong Monmouth under eight team played Croesyceiliog. The coaches had enough players to rotate the boys on and off. The final score was eight to Monmouth, a convincing win with tries from Finlay, Dominic, Noah, Tom (scored twice) and George got a hat trick. The team defended well, the number of tags the players got was amazing, the whole team contributed and all the boy’s got tags.
U8 v Newport (Away) 03 Mar 2013
On, what turned out to be one of the coldest Sundays for playing, Monmouth U8s played a mini tournament against Ledbury's three teams and Gwernyfed.
Some fantastic rugby was played by all the teams.
Seven games of five minutes each way were played. Monmouth were split into two teams. White and Tiger Sharks and played fair and well and hard. Tagging has improved and tries galore completed a great mornings effort. Well done to Barney, Callum, Chris, Corey, Dennis, Dominic, Dylan, Finlay, Jack, Mattie, Mickey, Noah, Osian, Owen, Toby and Tom!
The Monmouth sharks ran out winners today 7-5 against a competitive Malvern side. It was a good team performance both in attack and defence. Monmouth tries came from Callum (3), Finlay , George, Noah and Tom .
Noah in particular, a new recruit this year, deserves a special mention for not only scoring an excellent try but providing good support play and getting the top tag count of the day. Other highlights were the direct running of Finlay, the hip action of George and the tagging of Toby. The sharks continue to improve and we hope that the winning ways can continue next week.
Please find below the list of tag getters and try scorers from the game.
Thanks and well done to everybody
A good game by all especially Noah. His first season, his first game and he really got stuck in. Unfortunate to have been tagged else his name would be up on the try scorers list too.
