Great performances in the mudfest! 5th April 2008
The 9s,12s and 13s played in the TTD Welsh International festival over the weekend of 29th and 30th March. The event turned into a mudfest, as torrential rain, snow and hail were driven horizontally across Colwyn Bay rugby club throughout Saturday. All sides acquitted themselves brilliantly, with the 13s unbeaten, and the 12s losing only once, and winning the Shield competition, beating Northwich in the final on Sunday. Sadly, the pitches became unplayable by the afternoon and the 13s were unable to play in their final. The Monmouth sides all played the outstanding rugby in their groups and did the club proud. The adults finished the weekend off with some very competitive performances on the karaoke in the bar at Pontins, before heading for home on Monday. A great time was had by all 100 or so that travelled. Well done to everyone that took part.

Young Rugby play in International Festival 27th March 2008
Three sides from Monmouth travel to Colwyn Bay this weekend to play in an International tournament that sees teams from Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England compete for the honours over Saturday and Sunday, 29th and 30th March. Monmouth are represented in the 9s, 12s and 13s age groups, with around a hundred players and parents attending. The tournament follows a similar event to last year, where the same groups attended the festival at Bognor Regis, acquitting themselves extremely well at all levels.Sides taking part include Colwyn Bay, Nant Conwy, Daventry, Fairwater, Cooke, Northwich, Melrose and Weston Super Mare. We wish all the boys the very best of luck, and know that they will give their all for the club, and carry the flag for Monmouth with pride.

Welsh International Training Tuesday 26th February 16th February 2008
Tuesday 26th February, Luke Charteris of Newport Gwent Dragons and Wales is to spend the evening with the club, firstly to help and advise with training, and secondly to conduct an "up close and personal" session in the clubhouse afterwards. The training will take place from 6.00 until 7.30 on Chippenham Fields, so we can all get to ground and practice some proper forward play, your chance to play with a current Welsh International forward! It promises to be a great evening, and all are welcome, if not to play then just come along and meet Luke, not only is he huge, but he is a very nice guy and very sociable. He is always happy to do photographs and autographs for the children (and the grown ups!, mums please note), so don't forget your camera and autograph book.

If you have any queries about the evening, ring Secretary Nigel Donovan on 07789198056, or email on jangel@stowenscross.fsnet.co.uk.

Come on down to Chippy, the more the merrier - let's give Luke a great big Monmouth welcome!!!

Congratulations U12s 5th February 2008
Huge congratulations to the U12s who reached the semi finals of the Gwent Cup last Sunday. In dreadful conditions, they manged to secure a fiercely contested draw with Cwmbran, each side scoring a single unconverted try, and Monmouth going through, as the away team win in a tied result. Well done all in the squad, good luck in the semis!!

Sunday 11th November 7th November 2007
After a great round of matches and visitors last weekend, Monmouth Young Rugby is pleased to welcome visiting teams from Berry Hill, Caerleon and Hereford this Sunday. The under 8s and 9s play Berry Hill, with the 12s and 15s lining up against Hereford. The 11s play Caerleon in only their second match of the season, as the squad continues to grow. More under 11s are still sought, as are players at all age groups. Unfortunately, this Sunday, we will only have the use of the function room upstairs, as there is a private function on in the bar, so please go straight upstairs after the games.
You are reminded that hot and cold refreshments are served in the clubhouse kitchen throughout the morning, go and see for yourself what Jane has on offer.
