U13 v RTB Ebbw Vale (away) 22 Nov 2015

Round robin at Ebbw Vale with RTB and Abergavenny.

Monmouth v Abergavenny
The lions first game of the afternoon and Abergavenny's 2nd saw the lions starting strongly with great pressure heaped on Abergavenny with the Lions tackling strongly and our forwards winning the physical battle with Xav Brevet our flying open-side crashing over early. That should of set the tone for the rest of the game (only 25mins) but The lions failed to take advantage of their superior fitness and speed in the backs and decided that they preferred rather to 'arm wrestle' with the Abergavenny pack and try and smash them into submission.

To Abergavenny's credit they dug in and nearly scored at the end of the game but the Lions managed to hold on to the final whistle.

Due to only having 25mins to play, the lions coaches saw the opportunity to give our new lions some game time with Dylan Probert, Jamie Brine and Dan Taylor getting on the pitch and all giving a good account of themselves.

Monmouth v Rtb Ebbw Vale
After words of advice off the coaches, the lions started their second game with a bang scoring within the first few minutes. The coaches explained we needed to up the tempo and push the far heavier RTB pack about the park and the LIONS obliged with a succession of tries coming from: Jamie Stracken, Angus Whitehead (2), Che Theaker

Strong running and tackling from Ben Williams was pleasing to see as he is getting back to the same form he demonstrated last season and with the team being lead by their leader Morgan Wainwright who is relishing his role as a hard hitting No.8 the Lions will look to continue to improve there performances week to week. This was never more obvious than after the final whistle when the lions even though won both games without conceding a try looked frustrated by their overall performance.
