Local Fundraiser Emma King and Monmouth Rugby Club have given their support to our Soldiers this Christmas by getting involved with The Soldiers' Charity campaign. Emma has raised nearly £20,000 for the Charity since 2009 and the Rugby Club have been great supporters of the charity holding an annual Rugby Match against Jamie's regiment 1st Battalion The Rifles both in memory of Jamie Gunn.

Our soldiers and veterans have served their country with dedication and honour. In return, we believe that they and their families deserve our support, if ever they need it. And thanks to you, we're making that happen - last year alone, we helped over 6,000 individuals in need.

But many of these brave men and women are once again facing uncertain challenges - including the impact of injuries and economic hardships. You can you make a difference and celebrate their courage with a Christmas donation? Instead of sending Christmas Cards Emma has made a donation to The Soldiers' Charity

The WRU Dragons were represented at the Awards Evening by Mr Nigel Way from the WRU Dragons Coaching Development Team, who commented on the progress that the club has made, stating that Monmouth RFC is now one of the foremost clubs in its division in the region and is extremely well run.

Lloyd Davies, Chairman of Monmouth RFC commented,

“We are very proud of the achievements of all senior teams last season. The 1st XV were promoted as winners of Division Five East in their League last season and finished mid-table this season. There were some excellent performances with the squad showing that they are capable of a top of the league finish next season. It was also encouraging to see a number of individuals moving up to stake their claim in the First XV from the Youth Team.

The Druids also had a successful season, although nothing could emulate the season before, with them finishing top of their league and winning the Ivor Jones Cup.

This season saw one of the largest and strongest Youth Teams the club has seen for many years, with over 47 registered players. The Youth Team were very unlucky not to win their league and get past the semi-finals of the cup.

All teams can be proud of their achievements and we look forward to great things from all three teams next season.

The club celebrates its 140th anniversary next season, and is in good shape. We have secured sponsorship for the new playing shirts, drill tops, socks and shorts which will be utilised by all 13 teams and all 300 players for next season.

The clubhouse is currently undergoing complete refurbishment with the upstairs players lounge being remodelled so it is fit for purpose and can be readily let out to other clubs, associations and individuals for meetings and parties, from September 2013.

It has been a very successful year in so far as the building blocks have been laid for us to move forward as a club next season. Our coaching team is as strong as it has ever been and we have introduced a player development officer from the Newport Gwent Dragons, Chris Cornford, to join the senior coaching team with effect from next season.

In the event that you are interesting in getting involved either as a player, member or sponsor of Monmouth RFC, please do not hesitate to contact us”.

Monmouth RFC begin their 140th Season celebrations.

Monmouth RFC began celebrating their 140th Season on the 2nd November with a celebratory luncheon at their newly refurbished Club House.

The lunch was attended by Sponsors, Committee men and Patrons of the Club all of whom enjoyed a hilarious talk from Russia and Dragons Coach and former Welsh Captain, Kingsley Jones.

Neil Muir and his catering team provided an excellent meal and together with complementary drinks, a great afternoon was had by all.

Chairman at Monmouth RFC, Lloyd Davies commented as follows: ‘It was great to start our 140th Season celebrations in the new refurbished Club House.

The Club looks excellent and provides a fantastic facility for members, patrons and individuals interested in becoming involved in the Club. It was great to see all of the individuals that have worked so hard to ensure the success of the Club over the last few years at the lunch on Saturday.

It is important that we always remember those that are less fortunate that us and it was fantastic that we raised over £450.00 for the Ty Hafan Children's Hospice at the lunch on Saturday as a result of all of our attendees entering into a raffle on the day. Thank you to everyone who attended.’

In the event that you are interested in becoming a member of the Club or would like to know more information about the new Club facilities, please do not hesitate to contact the Club via the website. Telephone: +44 (0)1600 712309 Email: [email protected] copyright Monmouth RFC 2019
